BNP Paribas’ Global Markets business offers a broad range of products and services in the global interest rates, credit, currency, equities & commodity markets. Global Markets help their franchise of clients find effective ways to raise and invest capital as well as manage their exposure to risk. Their client base comprises of hundreds of corporations, institutional investors, banks, governments and supranational organisations. Global Markets has the scale and reach to conduct business anywhere in the world and deliver products denominated in almost all of the world’s currencies.,
Global Equities encompasses Equity Derivatives, Prime Services and Cash Equities. The Cash Equities business line provides research, advisory, distribution, execution, corporate access, and corporate broking services on equities globally to institutional investors and also serves as the distribution arm for BNPP’s equity capital markets transactions. Cash Equity Execution provides clients with the ability to execute in EMEA markets via agency or principal execution. Our traders work with sales trading and clients to provide them insight of market commentary, represent the indications from their sectors and reflect the interests of the firm and inventory books.

Purpose:
Global Equities – Cash Equities Quant Analyst – Vice President is a role supporting, developing and improving the cash equities execution platform using quantitative models and algorithmic techniques. The role holder will deliver medium complexity projects and operate with a degree if independence and autonomy, whilst knowing when complex and high risk issues need to be referred upwards. The role holder will lead in the delivery of non-routine tasks and activities and will supervise and mentor more junior colleagues to support them with their development.

Key responsibilities
- Advanced level professional within the Cash Equities Electronic Execution Quantitative Research team of
- Global Markets
- Actively promotes the Electronic Execution initiative within Cash Equities, co-ordinates and shares knowledge with teams in other locations to improve interfaces, optimise code and follow the team’s best practices.
- Directs some projects within the department, for example the role holder should be able to drive the full lifecycle of delivering a new model for the platform. The role holder will also support the full platform, responding to any issues or developments and ensuring the relevant aspects of work are completed
- Works with peers and more senior members of the team to design innovative analytic/implementation approaches, system architecture, code optimisation and interfaces including:
- Enhancing the platform to meet the business needs of Cash Equites
- Designs, coordinates and drives the delivery of new trading algorithms to trade Cash Equities products
- Enhances existing algorithms, by adding new features as well as by enhancing existing features.
- Develops, tests, delivers and supports tools to efficiently analyse the drivers of algo performance
- Develops and implements analytic tools for Cash Equities, for use both internally within the team as well as across the business
- Hands on C++, R and python coding of new features in the system with an emphasis on well tested, high quality code which is performant when required
- Influences and supports members of the team by leading in decision making and approach where problems are more complex and require sophisticated analysis or experience. Acts as a point of escalation for more junior staff.
Requirements
- Professional qualification in mathematics, statistics, physics, engineering or finance/econometrics or a PhD in another Science or engineering field with an interest in finance modelling. Broad knowledge of theories and models relevant to trading algorithms and practices across the Global Markets, combined with a deep expertise within Cash Equities.
- Strong knowledge of Cash Equity products and the trading microstructure.
- Good working knowledge of professional standards and protocol and able to apply them to the Business to develop and improve BNPP processes and practices.
- Proactively able to identify areas of development, improvement or ways to maximise results and takes initiative to implement relevant actions, in the short and long term.
- Strong skills in mathematics, numerical and statistical learning techniques, e.g., machine learning (both supervised and unsupervised).
- Advanced programming skills, such as C++, R and python, with experience gained in a context of quantitative research
