London, UK – 25 September 2017 – BNP Paribas Corporate and Institutional Banking today announces the appointments of Matthew Clark as global head of prime brokerage sales and Jerome Bassot as global head of prime trading.

Mr. Clark, who joins the bank from Citigroup and Mr. Bassot, who has been promoted within BNP Paribas, will jointly lead the bank’s execution and financing offering to prime brokerage and equity derivatives clients. Mr. Clark is responsible for promoting BNP Paribas’ multi-asset prime brokerage services to the bank’s institutional investor clients in EMEA, the US and APAC.

As global head of prime trading, Mr. Bassot’s role will include the banks’ delta one and prime brokerage trading. Both are newly created roles based in London and come as the bank extends its successful delta one capabilities to its institutional investor client base.

Mr. Clark has more than 30 years’ experience in banking. At Citibank, he was most recently managing director and global head of client executives within sales, in the investor services division. Prior to Citibank, Mr. Clark spent 20 years at Goldman Sachs holding various senior roles within the physical and synthetic prime brokerage business.

Mr. Bassot joined BNP Paribas in 2000 and has held a series of positions within delta one equity derivatives trading. He was most recently global head of delta one trading, for which BNP Paribas is a well-recognised leader.

Both Mr. Clark and Mr. Bassot will report to Raphaël Masgnaux and Arne Groes, global co-heads of Prime Solutions & Financing and G10 Rates, and to Nicolas Marque global head of equity derivatives at the bank. Mr. Bassot will still report into Emmanuel Dray global head of equity derivatives linear trading.

Messrs Masgnaux and Groes said: “We are pleased that Matthew has chosen to join BNP Paribas and that Jerome has been appointed into this important newly created position. Prime brokerage is a key growth area for the bank and we have significantly expanded our capabilities since 2014.

“We now service a range of fund structures including AIF and UCITS, and we can cater to funds choosing to deploy any variety of strategies including equity and credit long-short, for example. Matthew and Jerome will play a key role in growing our franchise in this area, with Matthew bringing his considerable commercial experience, and Jerome the trading expertise he has built during his time at BNP Paribas.”

BNP Paribas covers the full institutional value chain, offering prime brokerage, financing, derivatives, clearing and execution, as well as global and sub-custody of assets, fund administration, and collateral management services.
