The Hackathon is a growing phenomenon, whose name comes from the contraction of “hack” and “marathon”. Appeared in 1999, it aims to bring together teams of developers, designers and project managers to design an IT project in a limited time. Companies like Facebook, Yahoo!, LinkedIn or Google often arrange for their employees to drive innovation internally and to feed their R & D.
BNP Paribas launches its own worldwide Hackathon, taking place simultaneously in Paris, Brussels, Rome, Istanbul and San Francisco,from June 12 to 14.
This event of a new kind is open to start-ups and aims to enhance customer experience in the fields of banking, consumer finance and insurance, around the themes of security, customization, financial education and accessibility. Registration is online.
This experience takes place over two days, from June 12 to 14. BNP Paribas will provide participants specific resources, including close support, provided by marketing managers and Group IT architects.
The Hackathon is the first step of an adventure that lasts throughout the year 2015. After the weekend of June 12-14, 10 teams will be selected to share summer sessions, in order to convert their work into a viable product which they will present in Paris, at the Demo Day, in September.
Beginning in December 2015, the last phase of the program is an incubation period, in partnership with the Group, to ensure the acquisition of a user base, manufacturing prototypes and the implementation of testing.
The new digital giant may come out from this operation accompanied by BNP Paribas, the bank of a changing world, which strives to support and reward innovation and people who change the world.
