London, UK – 3 October 2016 – BNP Paribas announced today that it has appointed Anne Marie Verstraeten as Group Country Head of UK1. She succeeds Ludovic de Montille, who will become non-executive UK Group Chairman and assume an international client relationship-focused role on behalf of the BNP Paribas Group board.

Based in London, Belgian-born Anne Marie will be responsible for all the businesses that form the BNP Paribas Group in the UK: Corporate & Institutional Banking (CIB), Real Estate, Investment Partners (asset management), Leasing Solutions, Arval (vehicle leasing and fleet management), Cardif Pinnacle (insurance), Laser (personal finance), and Commercial Finance.

Anne Marie brings with her a wealth of client-facing and managerial experience. Since July 2014, she has been Head of the Netherlands for BNP Paribas. Prior to this, since 2010, she was Head of Canada and a member of the management team of BNP Paribas North America. Previously, she held several international positions for Fortis in New York, Singapore and London; roles included Global Head of the Fortis Worldwide Energy Group and Senior Corporate Banker in the Fortis UK Merchant Bank.

Anne Marie Verstraeten: “The UK is an important market for BNP Paribas. Having had a presence here for 150 years, the Group today comprises eight businesses based in 28 locations across the country, and employs 7,500 staff. Consequently, we have a diverse and established platform that is well placed to meet more needs of more clients, both domestically and internationally, in the years to come. In so doing, our UK franchise and our support of the UK economy will continue to go from strength to strength.”

Anne Marie Verstraeten has a degree in Applied Economic Sciences from the UFSIA (Antwerp) and a Master’s degree in International and Monetary Economics from the Catholic University of Leuven.
