In recent years, BNP Paribas UK has focused its community projects and charity activities in the vicinity of the banks central London location. BNP Paribas has a proud history of supporting a range of programmes in the area, but there was a general belief that they could do more. In recognition of this, the UK Management approved the launch of a new and expanded community and charity programme for London.

The programme that has been put in place aims to help BNP Paribas achieve its commitment to helping improve the quality of life for those people living and working locally. Through increasing the strength and effectiveness of communities and by improving people’s quality of life and enabling people to participate in decision making, people can achieve greater long-term control over their lives.

By virtue of BNP Paribas UK’s location they are very fortunate to have one of London’s most important leisure and ecological centres on their doorstep: Regent’s Park. Using Regent’s Park as a platform to deliver the programme, a number of schemes, focusing on education, the environment and sport will be launched this year.

In practical terms, BNP Paribas UK is making donations to some key organisations that will help deliver the programmes in exchange for providing opportunities for the staff to get involved. For BNP Paribas believes that the key to the success of any corporate community and charity programme is staff engagement. As a result, the priorities for this new scheme are to provide a wider range of volunteering opportunities across a broader scope of activities. These opportunities range from improving school holiday activities in the park; team environmental challenges to support the park in its habitat management and restoration schemes, in addition to mentoring local primary school children and preparing pupils for language examinations.

BNP Paribas strongly believes that this new initiative, as well as being distinctive and innovative, will not only deliver very real values by making some long-lasting changes to the community, but also lay the foundations for a sustainable programme well into the future.
